“Hop up out the bed. Turn my swag on.”

Before 2017, casual music listeners may have thought of Soulja Boy Tell’em when they heard those lyrics, but ever since Alexander Georgiandis, AKA Detlef, sampled that hook for his seminal single, “Swagon” all anyone thinks about are his tight-knit basslines and his undeniable grooves.

Originally hailing from Greece, where so much of western civilization first originated, Detlef brings that same level of historical knowledge and experience to all of his DJ sets and productions. Throughout his career he’s released music on some of the longest-standing labels in the history of dance music like Relief, Hot Creations, Viva Music and Toolroom.

His tracks are the kind that ignite the dancefloor. They provide a shift in tide whether the night is heading into peak time or chilling out for sunrise. Expert selectors like Marco Carola, Green Velvet, Matthias Tanzmann, and Pete Tong all see his talent for what it is and take his tracks with them wherever they travel in the world.

Of course, Detlef takes his celebrated and highly versatile sound with him on his own rigorous touring schedule. He’s held a residency at Jamie Jones’ Paradise nights in Ibiza, he’s played at The Warehouse Project in Manchester, ADE, and his influence certainly stretches to the United States where he’s performed at staple events like CRSSD Festival and Insomniac’s Escape Halloween Festival.

Beyond the success of “Swagon,” his productions are consistently well-received. In the last two years alone he returned to Lee Foss’s Repopulate Mars with a remix for Foss and Joshwa and he’s touched down on Michael Bibi’s Solid Grooves, and the legendary Moon Harbour Recordings from Leipzig.

Clearly Detlef’s swag is still on, and for the good of the raving community across the entire globe, hopefully it never turns off.
