Tamango Records Showcase: Yaya & Special Guests

On July 23, Italian minimal tech maestro Yaya takes over the spectacular Superior Ingredients rooftop, bringing the sound of his chart-topping Tamango Records for a New York debut. As you take in all of the summer splendor of Brooklyn’s premier rooftop club, be ready to dance the day and evening away to the sparkling, percussive, Afro-Latin-infused sounds of Italy’s one-and-only Yaya.

After rising to the top of the minimal and deep tech scene, Yaya started his tastemaking Tamango Records label in 2016 as a home for his stunning dancefloor heaters. Now a leader in the genre, Tamango is (at writing) one of the best-selling minimal/deep tech labels on Beatport, boasting releases from Luuk Van Dijk, Fleur Shore, Mason Collective, Loco Dice, Enzo Siragusa, Cuartero, Cassy, and Manda Moor. Tamango is an ideal extension of Yaya’s mission to create music that brings joy and light to the dancefloor. And after successfully taking Tamango’s emerging events beyond Europe to South America and Canada in 2022, Yaya is touching down in New York with some of his incredible Tamango label mates.

Yaya’s indelible sound fuses his African roots with infectiously danceable basslines and beats. Borrowing from his father’s background as a singer for an afro-beat band, Yaya’s take on house music moves with the heartbeat of slinky percussion and an uplifting jazzy backbone. Discovered by Loco Dice after a backstage meeting in Ibiza, Yaya has spent nearly two decades dropping his singular releases on labels like Toolroom, Sola Nauts, elrow, and Desolat. In that time, he’s also become a staple in his native Italy, Ibiza, and beyond, with joyous performances stretching around the world from London to Bangkok. He's become a regular of the star-studded global BPM Festival brand, playing their Costa Rica fest in 2020, 2022 and 2023 and he's made select stops stateside over the years, with shows at Space Miami and Chicago last year.

The Roof at Superior Ingredients, at the height of the summer sun, is a perfect way to experience the sound of Tamango. As the retractable glass roof opens to the sky, feel the beat bumping through the state-of-the-art sound system. And as the sun begins to set behind the glorious Manhattan skyline, you can catch a glimpse of one of the best views in New York.
