Overview

Your favorite Aussie selecta and ours, Wax Motif, returns to New York for his biggest headline play yet on Friday, August 25, 2023. After his last sold-out show at the Musica during NY Fashion Week, we couldn’t wait to bring him back for another incredible performance at an iconic location - Knockdown Center. If you are a Gray Area Inner-Circle member, check your email for exclusive access to pre-sale tickets. If you aren’t an Inner-Circle Member, sign up now to lock your spot.

Wax Motif's high energy, coupled with his silky genre-defying sound that flawlessly blends elements of the deep, bangin', and gangsta with some smooth notes of R&B and hip hop thrown in for good measure, is oh-so-fun to experience. Throughout his decade-long career, he's stood out as an innovator of cross-genre pollination and pioneer in bass-forward house music.

If you think you're unfamiliar with Wax Motif's sound, think again. Hits like his 2017 remix of Chris Lorenzo and AC Slater's "Fly Kicks" on Night Bass helped establish him a reliable and sought-after producer/remixer, while recent chart-toppers like "Bump, Bump, Bump" and "On The Low" with Longstoryshort prove his ability to find the confluence between nostalgia and modern day swag,

If you've caught performances from artists like Diplo, John Summit, and Oliver Heldens, chances are you've heard his music woven throughout their sets. And you can even count cultural icons like Diddy, featured on his thumping 2019 turn to tech house "Divided Souls," among his many supporters.

Wax Motif's been on a major tear in recent years. His most recent release, "Traga" ft STO Cultr marks his debut on Repopulate Mars, and this techy, Latin house track is already a fan favorite. And the rest of 2023 shows no signs of slowing with his upcoming collab with UK newcomer Riordan, "La Samba," dropping on Nervous Records on March 17.

While Wax Motif has some notable releases on labels like Interscope Records, Mad Decent, and Insomniac Records, he's also an industry tastemaker, a talent he expresses through his imprint Divided Souls Records, which he started in 2019. There he released his landmark debut album, House of Wax, fully encapsulating the imprint's ethos. Composed of 17 songs (many of which were older jams he didn't think fit with other labels) that genuinely showcase his ingenuity, range, and versatility, House of Wax produced many a banger, including "Skank N Flex" (with Scruzfizzer), which has 13.5 million streams on Spotify.

A true man of his community, he's famously eschewed the idea that he has "fans" at all, as he feels a close kinship with all those who listen to his music. So much, in fact, that he's composed his team of people he met through his social media and Discord channels.

Yes, Wax stands out when you consider his nearly two million monthly listeners on Spotify, his many sold-out shows, and his appearances at festivals like Ultra, ARC, CRSSD, Electric Zoo, HARD, EDC, and Holy Ship. Yet, beyond the indelible mark on house music, he impacts the community because of his massive personality and humble and encouraging spirit.

Don't miss your chance to be in the building for Wax Motif's biggest headlining show. We're proud to be part of his journey and hope you will join us to be a part of it too.
