Overview
Privilege Ibiza, originally known as KU Club, is the world's largest nightclub/mega-venue that has an overall capacity of 10,000 people, and spans 6,500 m².
Located close to the village of Sant Rafael, it is also just less than one kilometre from one of the island’s original nightclub’s Amnesia.

Privilege's journey began in 1978 under the name "Club San Rafael", changing to KU years later, and finally settling down as Privilege in 1993.
The venue became famous in the 1980s for its hedonistic open-air parties where guests could dine out, swim in a pool, and dance the night away to live performances by Duran Duran, James Brown and Spandau Ballet.
KU was also where Ibiza-loving Freddie Mercury and operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé recorded the music video for their 1987 hit 'Barcelona', and has welcomed A-list celebs such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Madonna, and Paris Hilton, James Brown, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Led Zeppelin, Moschino, Tina Turner, and more through its doors.

'A State of Trance' by Armin Van Buuren, has been the "singing voice" of Privilege's most important party. The club has also seen DJs Adam Beyer, Ben Klock, Carl Cox, Marcel Dettmann, Dennis Cruz, Jamie Jones and more, all play integral roles in the clubs popularity over the years.
After closing down in 2020 due to covid, the club has yet to re-open, with its current stature in Ibiza’s clubbing scene still somewhat unknown.
It is said that Grupo Matutes, a solid company that represent a high percentage of the island, including Palladium Hotel Group which counts spots such as Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel and Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, are set to take over the mega-venue, in hope to re-open next year.
Much has been said that another option open to its new owners is to return to its original KU state, removing the roof, and thus being able to do all kinds of events, restaurants and hotel rooms similar to its sister Ushuaïa Ibiza.

In a statement sent to Mixmag last year, a representative for GEM confirmed:
“After many years of litigation, Bahía de San Antonio S.A has acquired the shares owned by José María Etxaniz of the company Baltanxa S.A, owner of Privilege, within a judicial process.”
For now, we will wait patiently for any further news regarding the clubs reopening. After all, it will be an absolutely iconic moment in clubbing history.
